How you prepare yourself for different genres of movies like Gair, Mrugajal, Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai?
I follow a rule that every time I must present audience with a different genre of movie. I also read different type of books which helps me a lot finding various subjects which also helps me in growing further as a story-writer.
How you manage TV serials as well as movies at one time?
I have been lucky to receive interesting projects as well as chance to work with good people. These people have been kind enough to understand me and adjust according to my requirements. This is the only secret due to which I can handle movies and serials at same time. I am a product of television which has given me fame and the same audience are going to watch my movies too!
If given the option which one you will choose movies or serials?
It's difficult to answer. But directing a serial is more challenging because you have to make audience stick to it every day. You have to make every episode more interesting than the previous one, there is more creativity involved. As far as movies are concerned, once audience enter cinema hall they are bound to sit for complete 2 hrs. I am attached to both these mediums.
Something about your forthcoming movie.
I have adapted my forthcoming movie Badam Rani Gulam Chor from a commercial play Makadachya Haati Champagne. This is the biggest challenge I have faced in my entire career. But the journey has been terrific. Things which we can't show on stage, we have managed to show in the movie so we have taken couple of steps ahead than the play.
Why audience should watch Badam Rani Gulam Chor?
After a long time I have handled a script which has perfect balance of content and entertainment. This is 100% entertainment package, different experiment.
In your previous movies and now Badam Rani Gulam Chor, is actress Mukta Barve your lucky mascot?
It is just coincidence! Me and Mukta have been working with each other for quite a long time now. And if we are lucky mascot then lets this continue...because it will surely give positive results! Anyone will love to work with Mukta as she is a wonderful actress

Director's Cut: Working with Stalwarts - Satish Rajwade (Director)
Director's Cut - "Honored to have the opportunity of working with stalwarts!" -Satish Rajwade
During the course of this film project, I had the opportunity and honor to work with industry stalwarts.
Dr. Mohan Agashey is a stunning personality! The camera simply loves him. He has a very arresting personality and he sweeps u away completely by his mere presence. I worked with him in my serials ‘Agnihotra’, ‘Guntata Hruday Hey’ and now in this movie ‘Badam Rani Gulam Chor’.
Easily the finest actor in the country, I am honoured to direct a man of such great calibre and knowledge. What can i say...the audience is on for a wonderful experience!
Mr. Vinay Apte is a super Actor-Director-Producer. My generation has grown seeing his work of creativity be it in theater, television or films. He is our father figure. I started very early and have always had the fortune of working with him most of the time. A personality that can do justice to any role whatsoever and a talent about which I am too small to talk, he is someone who keeps giving you the confidence.
His greatness is such that in spite of being a class director himself, he is ready to essay any role just by believing in your concept. I wish to work with him all the time. Thank You Sir for so much trust!

Why Badam Rani Gulam Chor? - Satish Rajwade (Director)
Why 'Badam Rani Gulam Chor' the film?
I was destined to do this film - I feel I was the chosen one! Although there is ample talent around, I feel lucky to have bagged this film. I got this call from Mr. Vivek Bele who was at our producer Mr. Shekhar Kulkarni’s office. They had judged me by my past work and my last release ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’.
I felt honored to have receive a call from Mr. Bele. I am his diehard fan and jumped to this opportunity and I hope have fulfilled their and everyone’s expectations.
Such a great script comes along once in a while which has both - Content plus entertainment! Then there is no reason why one should not be making a film on this.
How the title of the film 'Badam Rani Gulam Chor' came about...
The title took around as much time to come as the making. We were struggling for the right balance of content and fun/humor..and then came up with a title after 12 different titles!
I translate ‘Badam Rani Gulam Chor’ like this... “A Thief in every Mind meets the Queen of every Heart and the mystery still continues...”.
A game where we keep one card hidden from other players...the suspense is fun and inevitable.

Director's Cut - 'Badam Rani Gulam Chor was a great experience' - Satish Rajwade (Director)
Director’s Cut! – by Satish Rajwade
(Director, Badam Rani Gulam Chor)
Directing a cast like Upendra Limaye, Pushkar
Shrotri, Anand Ingle and Mukta Barve was a treat!
Personally, directing a national award
winner Upendra Limaye for the first time was a superb experience. He is such a
brilliant actor and to top that an equally good human being. We were hoping to
work together for a very long time and finally got the opportunity this time.
As for Anand Ingle, I have worked with Anand as a co-actor in the famous Marathi play ‘All the Best’. We did some 500+ odd shows together, but I directed him in this project for the first time and I must say he has evolved as an actor. He was good earlier…but he is there amongst one of the best now.
I worked with Pushkar earlier in ‘Ek Daav Dhobi Pachchad’, and he surprises me every time. He has the ability to get under the skin of characters he gets to play and does that effortlessly.
Mukta Barve is one of the finest actors in today’s time! I have luckily got to work with her in back to back projects. A great sense of timing and camera comfort are her assets as an actor. She has a very good screen presence and can look both glamorous and simple.

BADAM RANI GULAM CHOR SYNOPSIS
Badam Rani Gulam Chor is a
humorous comment made on the manipulative overtures of the political mind.
Political mind, because the manipulations may be designed and applied as much
in mainstream politics as much in the personal relationships.
The characters in the movie are
three friends living together.
The friends address each other by
names they have invented on the basis of their individual personalities. So,
here we have the uncouth and aggressive ‘Chaku (Knife)’, who brings home the
woman he would like to marry to meet his friends ‘Pustak (Book)’ who like his
name goes by the book and ‘Makad’ a T.V channel journalist who could move
heaven and earth to find news.
The lady herself is unabashed
about changing her mind when it suits her, and moving on with life. With no answer ability to an erasable past she aptly renames herself ‘Pencil’.
The story becomes a chain of
witty battles between the four characters as Pustak and Chaku both woo Pencil
while Makad eggs on both individually. The duel goes on parallel to the
political dealings that are happening during the elections.
The two men vie for the lady’s
favors just as the opposing candidates vie for public support. The Makad
(media) meanwhile enjoy the show and tries to make it more and more complicated
to get excitement for him and news for the media.
Then Pencil marries one of them
and things seem to come to a dead end. But Makad would not let that happen. He
now convinces another friend that he is not out of the race and that he can
still have his love back.
Strategies are built,
manipulations galore and wit abounds. Every time there is a possibility of
stability, Makad, the media man becomes restless and succeeds in unsettling the
family and political scene once again.
Who gets the lady, who gets the
chair? Whom does the lady favor, whom does the public uphold?
